DO NOT use a garden hose to fill your caravan, here's why:

It's an easy mistake to make, a garden hose and a proper drinking water hose can look almost identical coiled up in the shed. But what they're made from is completely different, and it matters more than people realise. Standard garden hoses aren't designed for drinking water at all, they're often made with materials that can leach chemicals and plastic taste into the water, especially after sitting in the sun. Leave one out on a hot day and by the time you're filling your caravan's tank, the water can end up tasting flat out unpleasant, sometimes even picking up a faint chemical smell.

A proper drinking water hose is made from food safe materials specifically designed for exactly this job, so it won't affect the taste or safety of your water, even after being left out in the heat. It's a small thing, but it makes a real difference to your day to day comfort on the road, nobody wants their coffee or drinking water tasting like garden hose.
