Alko electric breakaway switch kit for trailers and caravans
It is constructed with a weldable tab (also can be screw mounted).
For trailers over 2000 kg GTM it is a requirement that, should the tow vehicle and trailer separate accidentally, that the trailer brakes are applied at full power for a minimum period of 15 minutes.
The brake-away switch is the crucial link between your van, tow vehicle and your breakaway system, ultimately indicating to your brake-away device that the trailer and tow vehicle have separated, thus triggering the activation of the brakes.
