Alko AKS 50mm High Rise Towball with Retention Plate

Extra tall version of the anti-rotation towball designed for use with the Alko AKS coupling system.

The Alko “AKS” range of stabilising coupling heads is fitted as original equipment on many European caravans and optionally on some Australian and New Zealand caravans using a 50mm towball.

The system reduces caravan or trailer snaking through four friction pads surrounding the towball that resist rotation.

Important:

The 50mm towball on the towing vehicle must not loosen due to rotation.

European tow vehicles typically use a rigid forged 50mm towball bolted to the towbar. This type is not affected by the AKS stabiliser’s clamping.

In Australia and New Zealand, most tow vehicles use a conventional towball fixed through the towbar tongue and secured by a nut and washer. This style can loosen with normal vehicle and caravan rotation when used with AKS coupling heads.

To prevent this, Alko developed a retention plate compatible with Australian Standard 50mm towballs featuring flats on the ball flange. The plate stops towball rotation during operation.

The retention plate is necessary when using the Alko AKS3004 coupling to prevent the towball from loosening. It fits standard 75mm towbar tongues.

This towball is specifically designed to work with the AKS coupling system.

Shank with thread dimensions: 60mm length x 7/8” diameter.
