In the Truma UltraRapid hot water system a powerful gas burner that heats the water in your RV within a short time. The hot water system has excellent insulation to ensure that almost no heat is lost. If the water temperature drops, the electronics in UltraRapid reignite automatically.

When the Truma UltraRapid Gas water heater is running, water is continuously reheated while you’re showering. This means that a second person can shower immediately afterwards.

Question:

Does this water system have a larger storage than the common Suburban Hot Water Service ie: is it continuous hot water for a longer supply?

Awnser:

It is not continuous - if fact we have a lot of issues with continuous hot water's except the cheap portable ones - they actually work pretty well. Continuous HWS have to regulate the flow of the water through the burner to achieve the correct hot water temperature. In cold weather the water must travel slowly through the burner to get hot enough - some of the systems will then only give you a trickle of hot water at your shower. Then is hot weather you need to rush the water through the burner, so, to get a reasonable temperature shower you need to have a large flow through the shower. Many people get frustrated with all this adjusting and mucking about to get the shower to the correct temp. Also unless you have an endless supply of water ie mains supply, not tank water, you don't even get a longer shower.

The Suburban HWS holds on average hold around 20litres at approx. 60 degrees. You then mix in cold water to achieve say shower temp of 38 degrees. This mixes at a ratio of 3 litres to one of hot water so if you use all the hot water you will have used 80 litres out of your tanks.

This Truma Ultra Rapid hold 14 litres and can heat to 70 degrees. You then mix in 4 litres of cold to each of hot. This means to use all the water in the tank you will have taken 70 litres out of your tank.

So in theory you get a slightly longer shower from the Suburban storage hot water service - in reality you don't, as the shower temperature would be dropping rapidly as you deplete the tank.

The benefit of the Truma Ultra Rapid is it has a larger 240volt element so you get much faster reheat times (Ultra Rapid) using the Gas and the Element together, you will get a 20minute reheat time.
We find that most people find the Truma Ultra Rapid to be one of the most easiest to use and gives the best showering for more than one person.
