Dometic Vacuum Sealer Cryovac Vacuum Packing 12-240v

The Dometic Vacuum Sealer is able to run on both 12 volt DC and 240 volt AC power, so you can bring it along with you wherever you go.

Simple, one-touch operation means you just close the lid until it locks into place, press the START button and in just seconds you have a perfectly-sealed portion in a reusable, heat-safe bag, creating a fresh and easy cook up no matter where you are.

With the lightweight, low-profile Vacuum Sealer from Dometic, you can lock:

In airtight packaging designed to keep food fresh up to five times longer than refrigeration alone.

Bags for the Dometic Vacuum Sealer are available in continuous rolls, allowing for items of almost any size to be fully or partially vacuum sealed. Maximum bag width is 290mm.

For delicate food items which might be crushed by the vacuum packing process (such as potato chips) you can stop the Dometic Vacuum sealer when the air is removed but the chips are not crushed. This also works for soups and stews.

Vacuum packing (commonly known as Cryovac) is a packaging technique that removes air and limits oxygen from the container to prolong the shelf life of foods and, for flexible packages, reduce the size of the product. This helps prohibit bacterial and fungal growth, while reducing evaporation of volatile components. It is also commonly used to store dry foods for a long duration, such as cereals, nuts, cured meats, cheese, smoked fish, coffee, and chips. For short-term storage, vacuum packing can also be used on fresh foods like vegetables, meats, and liquids to further discourage bacterial growth. Freezer burn can occur when food is frozen without protection, resulting in a dried, leathery texture and compromising flavors and textures. Vacuum packing avoids this by protecting food from cold, dry air.

Vacuum packaging also allows for a special cooking method, sous-vide. Sous-vide, French for under vacuum, involves poaching food that is vacuum sealed in a plastic bag.
